Make sure you play to your strengths, even the ones you're unaware of

If asked, I think most of us could list at least a few strengths that we possess.

But what about our hidden strengths, the ones that we’re unaware of? Isn’t it a good idea to also know what they are?

After all, research shows that, when we use our strengths, we’re not only happier, but we’re also more engaged at work and more likely to achieve our goals.

A good place to start is HIGH5, which through a simple free test will tell you what your 5 most developed personal strengths are.

Alternatively, if you want a more detailed report then you could invest in the Clifton Strengths assessment, which will show you how you rank against 34 different criteria.

Now that you have a better appreciation of your strengths, you need to find the opportunity to use them as often as possible. Are you able to express yourself on a daily basis or is your current role limiting your potential? Are you being expected to complete tasks using skills that are the complete opposite of the strengths that you possess?

If you're out of alignment, maybe it's time for a change?
